TO RECORD:
-
Have your mp3 player/computer etc. ready to go. Have access to lyrics on website.
-
Warm up and be ready to sing
-
Position your recording device - we want to capture your projected sound and try to avoid the sound of you inhaling etc…
-
Please film LANDSCAPE and try to occupy as much of the screen as possible (like a headshot photo). Do not film from a distance. If there is more than one person in your recording, make sure everyone fills the screen collectively.
-
You are also encouraged to decorate your background for Christmas (red, green, gold, white) and dress in semi-formal. Visible microphones/headphones are acceptable.
-
Put on your headphones (make sure they are connected to your device)
-
Start video/audio recording.
-
Start the guide vocal track (clap loudly exactly when instructed and then stay still during the instrumental intro)
-
Sing your part exactly with the guide vocal (melody or a harmony option you select from the tracks) PLEASE NOTE: Contrary to what we're usually told, you do not need to emphasise hard sounds like 't' etc at the end of words, as it makes it easier to blend everyone together digitally without them. We will add these sounds later.
-
Stay still and silent for a few seconds after the song fully finishes
-
Stop the recording
-
Listen to your recording. Please check that your timing is syncing up OK. We can pull back your volume on a wrong note, but if you are singing at a different speed this will make your recording much harder to use. You can repeat the process as many times as you like until you are happy - but remember that it does not need to be perfect - you will be one of many in the choir.
-
Please also check that there is no background noise, tinny sound, or crackling in the final recording.
-
Name your file with YOUR NAME, SONG NAME
-
Submit your file by either sending a link to a Dropbox, emailing for a Dropbox link or emailing that same address having attached your file through 'Smash' (www.fromsmash.com) or similar platform.
-
Thank you!

Deadline for submissions is Saturday, 14th November at 12noon.
